surging

I have a 2003 Santa Fe it is having a surging problem. You drive along and it looses power then surges. You can be in park or neutral and rev the engine and it will drop back to 1200 rpms or there abouts and then back to what ever you reved it to. Any help would be appreciated. Also if you idle its fine. but if I slowly rev to 2000 rpms it goes to 4000 and then back to 1500 or so.

RE: surging

Really sounds like an EGR problem, possibly a blocked EGR valve.

RE: surging

OK, after you further described it, really sounds like a fuel issue.
Do you know what your fuel pressure is?
