Swapping mass air flow

Hey just wondering, but I have a cold air intake on my sonata 2.4l but would it work if i swapped out the MAF with another from the v6 sonata or even the santa fe v6 3.5 l? looking to get a better air fuel ratio and the stock MAF sucks. anyone try this?

Try using a MAF from a ZR1 Corvette. That should give you great air fuel ratio.

Geeee thanks for the help there buddy! Any serious suggestions?

Ask a serious question to get a serious answer.

The MAF does not determine the air fuel ratio, the computer does. The MAF just measures the amount of air flowing into the engine. The computer uses that information and calculates the corrcet amount of fuel to supply. Changing the MAF does not change the air fuel ratio. The only way to do that is to change the fuel map in the computer. Changing the MAF gains you nothing. It's a 2.4L 4-cyl, the MAF is not a restriction that is causing any power loss. If anything would be a restriction it would be the throttle body and even that isn't a restriction for the engine. Now, if you plan on installing a turbo where the amount of air going is will be much greater, then the MAF and/or throttle body might be a restriction.

Ok. thank you that helped clear things up. What if you have a CAI and the MAF circumference is smaller than that of the tubing on the pipe. Doesnt the CAI allow not only the "colder air", but also allow more air to be taken in? Wouldnt the stock MAF restrict anything?

Yes, a CAI is less restrictive than the stock system but the MAF isn't the restriction. It's the factory air box and inlet. There are baffles in the original system that quiet the intake and prevent water from getting in the intake. Those baffles are the main restriction to the air flow.
