timing belt accent 60,000 miles

dealer told me i have to replace belt to keep warranty. if belt goes and damages car engine no warranty.

does anyone know life expentancy of the timing belts on acent 2002. dealer quoted $480. to replace it. i wonder if valid preventive maintenance for 40,000 more mile warranty. I would prefer to replace the belt around the time that history demonstrates life of belt.

always best to replace the timing belt as per manufacturers recommendations cos if they snap it can very expensive to fix[sm=noooo.gif]

That is true. A snapped timing belt can destroy your head so its best to change it even if it looks good.
