Timing belt change

An elderly woman with a 4 cyl. Hyundai with about 23K on the engine was told that she needed the timing belt changed asap because it had reached the year limit. It must be an early 2000s model. We live in eastern PA where the weather is generally neither hot nor dry.

I have the tools and knowledge to change the 2001 Civic timing belt and am wondering if the same tools could be used on the Hyundai. I assume the engines are similar.

Thanks.

It's the same procedure, except for the belt tensioner. I think Honda's tensioner is spring loaded, while the Hyundai is just hold it tight by hand and lock the bolt down, so you have to be skilled and check belt tension before you close up.

Yes, I would change the timing belt after almost 10 years.

Thanks. Adjusting the belt tension adds a new twist. That, I would need info on. Do you know if the crankshaft holder to remove the bolt would be the same as the civic?

Actually, now that I look at this 2001 1.6L diagram, I see it's spring loaded.
