Default Cat convert. issue

i have a quick question for ya.
My 00 accents cat is fowled up and needs replaced. Now catilic converters can be pretty expensive, and for the money i could just as easily geta pacesetter header and run a 2inch exhaust all the way back. Where i live they did away with the E check so i guess i could just skip out on the cat, bummer for the guy behind me in trtaffic though.
Now here's where the real question is, i have a flowmaster 40 muffler on my (broke down) pick-up truck, i'm thinking about slappin that on the accent. Yay or nay? i know the accent isn't a race car and i sure as hell don't want to be super loud like i'm fastor furious or whatever, but i would like to give the little car a little boost. This of course would be cuppled with the header and 2" exhaust. Any feed back would be great.
i'm also looking intoa high flow catalic converter on ebay, ya know for the guy behind me's sake.[:'(]

Removing the cat from a street driven car that was originally equipped with one is ILLEGAL even if where you live doesn't have emission inspections. Don't pollute the air.

It is illegal to run a car origonaly equiped with a cat, witout one. With that being said, i never run a cat on my cars, when they go bad thats it. However all my cars are tuned via a standalone system.

You will throw a CEL withought the cat atached.

I ran a Flowmaster 60series of a 4 banger before and it added a cool sound. wasnt bad, not like the fartcan sound.

thats what i'm going for, those big hollow muffler things, (what are they anyway old coffee cans?) are way too loud and annoying for me.

^^^

They are a flow thru design muffler. They make use of tiny baffles to obsorb sound as it passes thru. They are benificial for turbo cars, because they provide a free path of escape for the exhaust. The down side is well they sound like $#!T and i dont like how they look. They are much like your typical cherry bomb, or glasspack, muffler, but larger and have a more complex baffle system.
