Default Full CAI vs. Short Ram Intake

I'm just doing a quick survey for kicks. What do you prefer, short ram or CAI? If one more than the other, WHY?

CAI !! no doubt about

Reason: Simple the name say it all ! COLD AIR INTAKE ..

A short air ram is only for show because its sucks the heat from the engine back in ..
and that is what you try to avoid.

mabey for some people its looks cool and sound is improved . but its has NO peformance at all .
its wil do more Bad then good.

for Ex sample:

- No good supply of cold air to the throttle body
- Use more fuel to compansate for the lack of cold air
- Les Power BHP.

Very interesting. Now lets say you have a ram air with a heat shield and outside fed air ducts.

"ram air" is always best, but without an aftermarket hood, it is hard to get...

I prefer the short ram personally. That is because I live in south Florida and Hydrolock is a big issue.

Great input guys! Keep it coming. I want to find out once and for all. I will also do this on other debatable mods to see what the optimum configuration should be.

I just installed the Cosmo Racing CAI on my Accent (see my post in the Accent forum). It works great and is not obnoxiously loud like some installations I have heard. On the other hand, I may find myself coming over to soapsud's point of view next winter if we get our usual amount of upstate NY snow! That filter is pretty close to the ground.

I prefer cai because why not it suck cold air which actually does something. I think that short ram are just a piece of crap that suck in hot air from engine bay which you might as well keep the stock air box and save money.

well, the SRI does have less restrictions, so the air flow is smoother, but the CAI is more beneficial.
