1999 accent grind into 2nd
 

Hi,
i just got a 99 accent, and i have a problem. when i shift very quickly from 1st to 2nd, it grinds the gear. now if i shift to N quickly, then to 2nd quickly it doesnt grind. and if I shify slowly it wont grind. i always have the clutch to the floor when shifting.
does this mean the clutch is going?

It means the synchronizers are getting worn out. Many years ago, there was no synchronizers in a trans, so you had to "double clutch". Even high performance formula one cars are double clutched today. I'll double clutch myself during sporty moments just because it's easy on the syncros.

The solution is to go out and buy some Amsoil Synthetic Syncromesh manual transmission fluid and replace your transmission oil. I've never used it, as it's expensive, and I'm a skin-flint. But I've read about others that swear by it.

Or if you don't want to do that, just double clutch a lot, just like you've been doing.

It Probably not the transmission; sounds more like the clutch isn't releasing totally, which will only be crucial at a standstill trying to engage first gear.So it may be a clutch's issue .
