oki in illustration 3 it shows 2 bolts that have to come out,are they on the firewall under the ash tray and radio? I have a black plastic piece that covers both sides of the channel and hides where the screws should be if they are on the firewall also the red cable does not move.when I go to the engine compartment the 2 bushing facing up move with the black? cable and when I reach down on the bushing toward the firewall that's horizontal and push on it.the spring loaded cam above it moves but when I push on the bushings on the black cable the cam doesn't move.i'm not greatly endowed with mechanical aptitude so it's hard for me to figure out how things are supposed to work if I haven't seen it when it was working.so before I order the cables I want to make sure its the cables and not something in the engine compartment.

this is ridulous.the diagram is useless.not only didn't it show the heater tubes being there and in the way.it doesn't show a steel enclosure around the cables near the fire wall blocking access and sight of the 2 bolts that are on the fire wall.the screws that hold the top of the steel enclosure are facing down .there is no way to get a screw driver on it if it even is a screw if it's a bolt you can't get a gear wrench on it as it's sides are to thick and a socket is to tall.even my finger size cresent wrench doesn't have enough swing to move the bolt. i even checked the diagrams of other years to see if some how my car got something it shouldn't. all the diagrams are the same.can't wait to see what the dealer is going to charge to fix the shifter.i'm pissed.can't even send the website a correction comment as it kreeps giving an error and to contact the web master nor can i get the whole message in the box.i'll get pics of the new obstruction if i can and post
i have a 2000 3door hatch back that need the shifter cables replaced.the diagrams of it do not come close to being accurate.there are 2 heater tubes in the way that aren't shown and the worst part is the steel enclosure that blocks you from even seei |
