2003 accent tranny stuck
 
i have a 2003 5 speed accent drove fine park it started it up the next morning (very cold) put in reverse would not back up fills like it is stuck in high forward gear stays in gear in neutral clutch seems to work fine can only get it to move in 1st anyone have idea whats wrong

Sounds to me like your transmission is locked into gear, and will probably need to be replaced. I would take it to a tranny shop, like an AAMCO. I'm sure they can tell you what needs to be done. I think it is best to take it to a professional when dealing with tranny issues, unless you are accustomed to working with them. Newer trannys have so many computerized parts that they can be a pain in the ass, and are very easy to completely f*ck up...good luck, hope you can get it working again. I just had to have my 2001 automatic tranny completely rebuilt because it would not go into reverse gear. For me, it was the pulse generator...it failed, and filled the tranny with metal shavings...yuck.

if it's very cold it's possible that the shifter or the trans will not engage into any other gears than what it was parked in cause the gear oil is thick and cold. try letting the car warm up and see if the same thing happens.
