2003 Hyundai Accent 3dr hatchback 1.6L

My check engine light came on the other day and the error code that i am getting is P 1402.... Does anyone know what this error is? I do know my gas milage has gone to crap tho....

And what is the MOST milage has anyone seen on one of these cars?

It's a problem with the DMTL Pump Circuit. The DMTL pump is used to pressurize the fuel tank to check for leaks. It has to do with the emissions system. They get water inside then the motor rusts up inside. Replace the module. It is beside the charcoal canister.

Where is the charcoal canister?... Im a noob at hyundia's, this is my first one and dont know a thing about it....

Hey JohnJoe, The charcoal canister is behind the left rear wheel.

I have an '02 Accent with the SOHC engine. I drive 900 highway miles a week and average 39 mpg. I run a K&N air filter, which instantly yielded an additional 3 mpg for me. Good luck.

Sorry to hijack, is it just the K&N filter or is it the CAI kit

Hey Buick 8, it's just the filter itself, not the kit. My Accent has 199,680 miles on it, I should pass the 200K mark this week. Love the car, love the motor.
