Default Accent GS '02' Fault Codes P0722 and P0717

Hi, i took my Accent 2002 into get an inspection and these codes where displayed: P0722 and P0717. What do they mean? I was told they imply something is wrong with the transmission and i should take my car into the nearest dealership. The car has never given me any trouble at 90k mileage, and it only stalled once and 'chunks' slightly when i start it in the mornings before work.

P0717 is input speed sensor - no signal
P0722 is output speed sensor - no signal

Usually it means you need to replace these two sensors. Probably a dealer item.

P0717 is a problem with the Input/turbine speed sensor circuit (no signal)
P0722 is a problem with the output speed sensor (no signal)

Have you ever changed the trans fluid? You realize the trans fluid should be replaced every 30K miles, right? So it should have been changed twice already and now it's time for it's third change.

Yes, get to a dealer or a qualified trans shop that knows Hyundai transmissions. Hyundai transmissions require special fulid and most Jiffy-Goof places don't know that and will use generic trans fluid that will ruin a Hyundai trans.

Oh, OK. When you said it had never given you any trouble at 90K miles it gave me the impression that you had driven it all those miles.
