2013 Accent driver's door is unlocked, but will not open from outside

I recently bought a 2013 Accent. It came with no remote and only one key. Foolishly, I put off buying a spare key and of course, locked myself out of the car on 2 days ago. My coworker happened to have a slim Jim set and was attempting to unlock the door. This took an hour and was unsuccessful. I used a wire hanger and finally was able to pull the handle and open the door. Since then, my door will unlock, but will not open from the outside, even with the key. I'm required to reach from passenger side or leave my window down for access. Please help?

Slim Jim set seems to have dis-connected the linkages
You will need to open door and take off door panel to see what needs to be re-connected.
Check youtube videos for additional information

I was afraid of that, but thank you.

I appreciate your help. I was hoping to avoid removing the door panel, but sounds like I have no choice. Thanks again!

A little FYI, Anytime you have a vehicle with side airbags , A slim Jim can get you into trouble.

Outside door openers

I am not familiar with the 2013 Accent. But regarding an older 2004 Accent, which I have, the outside door openers are CHEAP PLASTIC GARBAGE! The part of the handle that my fingers "lock into" to open the door will break away from the linkage that actually opens the door. You can't tell by looking at it that there's anything wrong. The "hinges" are still intact and functioning, and so it fools you into thinking that the opener is fine, not broken. But it is, in fact, broken. And a NEW one will do the same darn thing a few years down the road, especially if I need to pull a little harder on a bitter cold day when there is some frozen dew, humidity, frost, or ice in it. Maybe that's what is happening to yours????
