accent engine management light
 
i have a 2000 accent can anybody tell me if a hole in the exhaust would cause the engine mangement light to come on

Uhhh,,,,,, YES !!!

MIL illuminated, P-0133 Ox Slow Response, Bank 1 Sensor 1 (pre-cat / upstream), and the exhaust pipe is cracked right at the accordion (flex section) and noisey...

Hyundai had to issue a service bulletin back in 2006 for the issue, too many people replacing Ox sensor (upstream),, only to have light back on after system logic determines the sensor is slow to respond..

There is program for Ox Logic, #52, for a 0130 issue, but update it anyway. There is also a trans update for VSS Noise (pulse generator), #18 or #19, I would have to go find it...

DESCRIPTION:
When diagnosing Code P0133 (Front Oxygen Sensor - Slow Response) on a 2000 -
2002 model year Accent, verify the integrity of the front exhaust pipe between the front
and rear oxygen sensors. A leak in the pipe can affect the ECM diagnostic logic for the
front oxygen sensor.

Add (2) gaskets and (4) nuts to assemble each flange
