Air filter opinion

I installed s short ram intake on my car and it came witht this new technology "AEM dryflow air filter". I am just wondering if this filter is as free flowing as the K&N's. I have always used K&N and liked the results. Anybody have any experience witht these dry ones?

most of any power gains are from reducing restrictions in the intake itself. the filters don't do a lot in reality. the gain from the cone shaped filters is the large increase in surface area. in fact replacing an OEM filter element with a K&N OEM replacement filter will yield no change at all other than the fact that its reusable.

in short i wouldn't waste your money on the AEM. also many of these 'high flow' filters don't filter as well (K&N isnt bad) so do your research first. for example, the HKS and Greddy ones are rather awful. Apexi are supposed to be quite good from what i've seen.

^^ I have to agree with Zero. Most AEM stuff is junk (in my opinion). Get a nice K&N or an Injen filter.

I think the AEMs are a synthetic element and can be washed out easily. The cabin pollen filter on my Taurus is synthetic material and will filter down to the micron level. Easy as pie to wash out with some warm soapy water.
