Alignment
 

Took my 2009 GLS in to the dealer for an alignment. It was pulling slightly to the left, not bad, just annoyingly noticeable. Got it back, they said the front toe in needed adjusted. Then they told me the left rear was slightly out of alignment but there is no way to adjust it. Is this normal? Should I take it to an alignment specialist? Never heard anything like that.

What are the final align numbers on the finished product ?

They didn't give me the final numbers. I've never had a vehicle out of alignment that couldn't be adjusted, so it sounded odd to me.

You can only adjust readily what the manufacturer provides adjustment means for.. on the Accent, they only give you front toe.

The rest you is run what is handed to you, unless you go above and beyond with custom stuff to get where you want it.

Seems to me I heard somebody say something about modifying GM rear shims to fit in place and set up the rear where you want it to balance and straighten up the rear... my memeory is not all it used to be...

Go back and see if they kept a copy of the finished align print, and copy the numbers of the finished product.

Does he have an alignment machine in his shop? or does he send them out?

When I had alinements done, I tell them I want before and after printouts, to prove what they had changed. The left rear side being slightly out could be a slight bend in that strut, if you hit a large enough pot hole, that can happen. The shop I last went to also has a bender, should that happen, the strut can usually be bent back into alinement. If you live in Austin tx, I would suggest Speedy Aline.

A 2009 should still be under it's 5yr, 100,000kms powertrain warranty. The rear is non-adjustable. How ever if the vehicle has not been in any accident, and nothing is bent in the rear. The rear axle should be replaced under such warranty, as it will be a part replacement, not an adjustment

Leads me to believe this was out of spec from new....
