alternator or fuse problem?

hi
I have an issue with my Hyundai accent 2007
the problem is that I mistakenly connected the battery backwards
now the car starts fine but the battery is not charging and when I remove it the engine stops
I think it is either an alternator or fuse problem
any one know where is there a fuse for alternator in it as cont locate it
any suggestions is highly appreciated
thanks

In the engine bay, there is a box where all the major fuses are.
You need to check the big fusible links as well as the smaller ones.
It is relatively easy with a DVM or test light.
Just put the test light to each fuse and on both sides of the fuse.
If both side light up then the fuse is good.

Put a DVM on the battery and check voltage with engine off
Should read around 12.5 volts.
Start engine and read the voltage on the battery.
Should read the charging voltage of the alternator
That should be about 14.5 volts.

If there are wires that go to the battery positive terminal
Then check to see if there are any fuses or fusible links on them
Sometimes there is a fuse between the alternator and battery.
If there is nothing and there is continuity from the battery to the alternator then
Replace the alternator.
