Buying

Hey,
Looking to purchase a 2010 Accent, are there any current issues with it or complaints against this year? or anything a new buyer should know?

They are great cars. There's nothing to worry about as long as you maintain it properly.

other than the automatics being a bit slow, its hard to go wrong. no issues.

if you can hold out until next year hyundai is starting to roll out a new kind of engine..the gamma series. its main change is that they've gone to direct port fuel injection - meaning fuel is injected directly into the cylinder. by controlling the fuel flow very accurately they have eliminated the throttle body which is the biggest restriction in any intake.

the result is a 1.6L that has around 145hp give or take. the newer accents will have a 1.4L with the same power as the current 1.6L and will get better fuel economy.

if you don't want to wait though, they are still excellent cars.

cruise control issue

I bought a 2010 Accent GLS with auto trans. All good except for a curious condition with the cruise control. When the cruise control is set at any speed, the rpms jump up 300 rpm and stays there until cruise is cancelled. Driving at the same speed with the foot, 300 rpms lower. Hyundai says it was designed that way. Never seen anything like that before. It cuts your mpg by 10-15% when in cruise mode.
