cat & flex pipe 2000 3dr
my mechanic says the check engine light shoed oxygen sensor found cat and flex pipe bad $1K to replace all ?Sound fair?

I don't understand why you need a catalytic converter if the flex pipe is bad. As you can see by the diagram below, the catalytic converter is a separate piece from the flex pipe. The first pipe in the muffler diagram is where the flex pipe is. Do a search of "universal flex pipe" on eBay, and you will see that you can buy a universal one for cheap. It's a matter of cutting the old pipe where the flex pipe is, and clamping the new flex pipe to the existing pipe.

Also, the oxygen sensor is a separate piece. They routinely go bad and need replacement.
