Coolant level low

Hi guys,

I'm new and am wondering whether there are known issues with the engine coolant level being low on an '07 Accent? It's below L when cold, and I've been filling it periodically to get it back within range. I think it's burning coolant, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know if/how I can diagnose this?

Thanks!

So I took the Accent to the dealer yesterday and they said they couldn't find any leak, and that the only possible explanation could be a cracked head gasket. That sounds like something covered under the powertrain warranty... what do you guys think?

Check the coolant level when the engine is warmed up and idling. Should be anywhere between the high and low marks. Unless you have other signs of a head gasket or cracked head casting problem (coolant in the oil, white or light grey smoke from the exhaust, etc), I seriously doubt that is the issue. Given the advice you are getting from your mechanic, I would consider finding another mechanic or at least getting a second opinion from another one.

If you're burning coolant...you will either see white smoke, or notice a sweet (coolant) smell coming from the exhaust. I've had vehicles that operated around the low range, but when I filled the system it would blow it out the overflow and I would see coolant on the ground until the system leveled out.
Did they pressure test the system? You're less than 10yrs, and aslong as you're less than 100k miles...it's covered.

check oil cap in manifold for water vapor or condensation or milky color underneath. that would be water getting in
