flashers and turn signals not working
my car is 2006 accent. the turn signals stopped working, the flashers only work when they want too a long as the button is engagd. when i can get them to flash, i believe the relay is on the back of the fuse box at the very top. any help would be great. i wont even drive it without turnsignals. thanks
well firstly i wanted to say its nice to see someone with your level of responsibility. most people would drive around anyways and not care. great stuff
FYI if you need to drive it, in most places its legal to use hand signals out the window. just be careful!
relay is an option. find the relay for your singnals under the hood in the main relay box. just swap it with another relay for something else and see what happens. that will eliminate that possibility. many of those relays are identical - just check the numbers stamped on them.
other options are fuses (probably partially blown, although unlikely). again swap them to see what happens.
its also possible that the turn switch in your steer column is worn out. may be strictly electrical so you may not feel it when pulling the lever. some probing with a multimeter is in order here.
besides that you'd be looking at wiring...fun times with a multimeter...did i say fun? i meant crappy.
anyhow good luck!
btw, there are full wiring schematics on www.hmaservice.com. you must use IE, sign up for a (free) username/account, and check site requirements and download and install the necessary adobe plugins.

i had switched out the big fuses under the hood along with replacing the hazard and turn signal fuses under the dash with new ones. i had checked the wiring harness that plugs into the turn signal switch and have 2 hot wires. i am considering replacing the turn signal switch. thank you for the link to the wiring diagram and thanks for the help
no prob, hope it works out. also, since you seem competent with a multimeter you should be able to test the switch unit with a multimeter without having to run out to get a new one...sometimes they are expensive, i'm honestly not sure for the accent.
but then again a junkyard is always an option
