Your'e not overfilling your tank are you?

RE: Fuel smell !!!
Thanks for the reply,
I am not overfilling the tank, the smell is coming from the engine bay into the cab via the vents,I recently gapped the plugs and this has helped a bit but the smell is still there. It appears to be worse after a short burst of reasonably hard acceleration, any ideas anyone?? |
RE: Fuel smell !!!
I'd check the fuel pressure. If you've noticed a decrease in mileage, check out your O2 sensor. If it's starting to fail, or has failed, the PCM (computer) will give the engine more fuel to compensate.

RE: Fuel smell !!!
Hi Jamie,
I have noticed exactly the same thing on my 2000 Accent. Dodge, any more info on cost/changing the O2 sensor? I'm still stuck in the days of distributers and this newfangled ECU stuff is beyond me:) Cheers Martin |
RE: Fuel smell !!!
I have a 2002 XG350 with a similar problem. Over the past two years I have taken it to the dealer twice. The problem happens when it is cold outside or it is rainy. I have paid over $350 to have a fuel pressure regulator changed and a leaking fuel line replaced per the dealer's diagnostics but the problem did not go away. I've probably taken it back to the dealer 6 times and they can not seem to get to the bottom of this. Any thoughts?

I have this problem in my 2011 Sonota as well. Fuel smell coming through the vents when I am stopped. It literally stinks that they have this problem on so many different models and years. You would think they could have figured this out by now.
