Hyundai Accent 2002 won't start

Hello Everyone,

I have a Hyundai Accent 2002 that won't start.

To put a bit of context, I left the car for 5 month at a friend place, who unfortunately never ran it. Everything worked good before, never had a problem starting the car. The battery is probably done, though we charge it back good and put jumping lead from another car, almost start this time but just almost....

I check a bit more in the car and found a cable that was unnatached. this cable came out from the dash as you can see on the picture, and end up close to the battery but I can not find where it should go. On the three cable, one is going close to the air exhaust, the other one close to the starter and this one that i don't know.

If anyone can help it would be really appreciated, as I am stuck far away on a dirt road.

Thanks all!

You descriptions are tough to follow.
Maybe hook up a scanner and check for codes
If not then go back to basics and check for air flow in/out
Check for sparks, check fuel, check compression, check timing, etc..

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you first turn the key to the on position?

Yes I tried most of those, not the scanner as i'm lost in the wood.

Yes the fuel pump, I can hear it, half the tank have been sitting for the 5 months, you think the gasoline is off?

You should be able to see the pictures now, thanks for the help.

Okay, the picture shows the loose wire as a wire that hooks up to the hood switch.
When the hood is opened, the spring pushes the plunger up and grounds the wire
When the hood is closed, the hood pushes the plunger down and makes the switch open circuit.
Apparently, it got disconnected.

As for the gas, unless moisture got in the gas tank, it should be good.
As for almost jump??? What happened?
Did it crank?
Did you check all the fuses? Can be done quickly with a test light.
Did you check for spark? Fuel pump? Injector signal?
