My '08 Accent won't shift from drive to park. The shift lever will physically get there, but the car is not shifting. The car will only shift as far as R. The display on the dash shows the same, not in park, but in reverse. But if I shift all the way back to L then to Park it is fine. Any ideas? Could this be a shift cable issue?

 

I would assume it is a cable issue
And open the hood and investigate

Sometimes the thing holding the cable casing comes loose
Hopefully it is something simply and easy to fix
