hyundai accent engine swap

hi everyone, i'm brand new here, i dont have a hyundai i have a sube and a vw, but my friend has a hyundai accent. i read somewhere about someone putting a mitsu 4G63 in a hyundai, anyone here know anything about that, how hard is the swap? i know some hyundais and mitsubishis share the same engine and i would assume that the bellhousing would bolt up, i was just wondering if alot of people have done this. thanks everyone damon:eek:

Hmm... Ok, so this is a late reply!

Rumour has it that it is possible to squeeze a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 engine into an Accent (apparently it's been done) but a more common replacement tends to be from a 2litre Tiburon/Coupé... although I wouldn't say it was that common!

It is possible to do, but it requires a good bit of work. You will have to fabricate a passenger side motor mount, the other mount will work. The tranny will interchange depending on what performance you want. The original tanny will give you rediculous accelereation while the mitsu tranny will be better for top end. The computers will need swapped for the mitsu swap not the tib swap, The hardest step is the transaxles. You need the mitsu trans axles but you have to cut them to fit and precision weld them back together. It sucks trust me, but in the end is worth it. I have done the Tib swap to mine so if you complete the mitsu swap or need help let me know.
