Default Radio

I haven't picked up my 08 Accent yet. I want to swap the radio out on day one, but I want to gte a little familiar with the radio setup first...particulary the power supply. I know in my cavalier yo have to run an individual power wire from the igntion switch to the radio...this is the only reason I ask.
Can I just wire up the plug'n'play harness and the radio turn one on the first try?

No, to do this right without cutting off the stock radio harness connector, you need to build an adapter pigtail. The new aftermarket radio will have a proprietary connector on the back of it that will not match up to the connector on the harness. The new radio will come with a pigtail that plugs into the radio with marked leads indicating the function of each wire. You need to buy a similar pigtail that has a connector that will plug into the stock harness. You then match up and connect the corresponding leads between the two pigtails to create the adapter. If you get it right the first time, you should have tunes with the first try. The new Accent uses Hyundai's 24P (24 pin) audio connector (see attachment). I usually crimp fit the wires on the adapter pigtail, test the setup and then permenently solder the leads once I know it is working right.

I suggest you buy the new radio from Crutchfields (http://www.crutchfield.com/). They provide an installation kit with specific instructions and the pigtail connector that matches your car's harness.
