Spark plug lead resistances
Can anyone tell me what the resistances of the spark plug leads are meant to be on a 2001 accent?

http://www.hmaservice.com/data/Passe...G/kbpd080b.gif Spark plug cable CYLINDER - LENGTH - RESISTANCE (20K) Ω No.1 ------ 560mm ------ 5.60 ~ 11.76 No.2 ------ 440mm ------ 4.40 ~ 9.24 No.3 ------ 360mm ------ 3.60 ~ 7.56 No.4 ------ 310mm ------ 3.10 ~ 6.51 http://www.hmaservice.com/viewer/img/note_icon_eng.gif Resistance should not be higher than 10,000 Ω per foot of cable. If resistance is higher, replace the cable. http://www.hmaservice.com/data/Passe...G/ebpd006a.gif |
Thanks very much for your information, but could you please tell me what ( BOUGI ) and ( R16AIPS ) stands for, and are the values shown in K ohms.

Hi,
Could I get the specifications for a 2007 Accent Spark plug wire resistances |
One more question -forgot before
I just replaced plugs in the accent 2007 the resistance was about 12k these were Champion RC10YC4 --- 1.- what is value in new plug and what is maximum value before they have to be changed? 2.- Also will MSD 34039 wires be ok as replacements |
Gasoline engine has been equipped with the spark plugs which are manufactured by NGK or CHAMPION.
The spark plugs have an internal resistance to reduce noise when fuel is ignited and there are two types of internal resistances. NGK spark plugs have only carbon glass type of internal resistance, but CHAMPION spark plugs have two different types of internal resistances, cartridge type of internal resistace or carbon glass type of internal resistance, depending on model and engine. The color of terminal stud can discriminate the CHAMPION spark plugs with cartridge type of internal resistance from the CHAMPION spark plugs with carbon glass type of internal resistance. The CHAMPION spark plug with cartridge type of internal resistance has a silver terminal stud and the CHAMPION spark plug with carbon glass type of internal resistance has a dark gray terminal stud. Carbon glass type of internal resistance may be measured with a 12V Multi-Tester, but the internal resistance measurement must not be used as a way to inspect the spark plug because accurate measurement of the internal resistance is not possible. Although the measured internal resistance value is not within specification, 3-10 kΩ, do not replace the spark plug. Cartridge type of internal resistance can not be measured with a 12V Multi-Tester. If measuring the internal resistance with a 12V Multi-Tester, the tester may show a reading much higher than the actual resistance value because both ends of the cartridge type of internal resistance are very rough. If you insist on measuring the cartridge type of internal resistance, a 1000V Mega-Ohmmeter should be used. However, like the carbon glass type of internal resistance, the internal resistance measurement must not be used as a way to inspect the spark plug because accurate measurement of the internal resistance is not possible. Although the measured internal resistance value is not within specification, 5-15 kΩ, do not replace the spark plug. Spark plugs replacement frequently occurred in repair shops when a vehicle exhibited engine misfiring, rough idling, etc. because the spark plug internal resistance is measured in most of the repair shops as a way for spark plug inspection. However, accurate measurement of spark plug internal resistance is not possible as mentioned above and we could not generally find any defects in the collected inferior spark plugs. https://www.hyundaitechinfo.com/data...shdea6010l.gif 1.Measure the primary coil resistance between terminals (+) and (-). https://www.hyundaitechinfo.com/data...G/abge004a.gif Standard value: 0.7Ω ± 15% |
Thanks NovaResource
just replaced plugs misgapped @0.44 noticed after that max gap should be 0.43 -how much of a differece will that make? Thanks again |
