Timing belt and Valve Job
Hello, the worse has happened, the timing belt went bad and struck a few valves. Now I need to replace the timing belt and take off the cylinder head, so that I can take it to a machine shop to do a valve job.
I was looking for a post that would have tips and/or instructions to do these jobs, so if anyone would be so kind to direct me or give some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to spend over $1,000, please help. |
RE: Timing belt and Valve Job
The bad news is that you're going to spend about $1,000 on replacing the bent valves, having the head pressure tested, having the head rebuilt, and doing the timing belt.
Biggest thing to be aware of with the T-belt, replace the tensioner. I can't stress enough how 90% of timing belt failures post replacement are from not replacing the tensioner. |
