Timing or Cat?

I am stumped, my fiancée has a 2007 Hyundai accent sedan and after work yesterday she lost 3/4 of her power and barely made it home. I told her I would do the basic plugs, filters tune up and it may solve the problem. She swears she got the proper maintenance done for the car which recently turned 60,000 miles or 100,000kms but can't find the paperwork to prove the timing belt was done. I personally think it slipped a tooth and is not firing correctly. Service engine soon light is on and flashing its warning of major repair as well. I seem to remember reading of a guy having to replace his cat when losing power, but the car is really idling rough too. Is timing belt replacement the way to go? Am I totally missing the mark?

Any advice would be helpful,

Thanks,

Knite
