transmission no forward after rebuild
 

Anyone with ideas - what I can check? I have no forward gears after rebuild. I've been at this for some time now. After making some mistakes, correcting them, and checking again, I can not find the reason for no forward gears. Can hear the pump engage (it gives the engine a slight load.

A highly recommended site for anyone wanting to work on there transmission.
My transmission is an A4AF3 / A4BF2. I replaced the six solenoids as an assembly because I shorted out the
Damper Clutch Control Solenoid Valve (DCCSV) when installed them in the wrong direction.
.
Done nearly everthing - just throw a bunch of ideas at me - maybe something will hit me between the eyes.
The only thing I have not been able to test/check is the computer. Is the transaxle computer seperate from the cars computer. TCM? Where is it located?
Any links to where I can buy a computer cheap?

Disconect the harness going into the trans and it should go into 3rd failsafe. if it doesn't move you have an internal trans problem and it will not be the solinoids or tcm. most likely you have a leaking o-ring or gasket on the valve body after replacing solinoids.

Hi Teddie bear. Have you solve your problem? I have a similar problem but only gears up to second. I stripted the valve body and think I made a mistake when assemble it. Do you have a diagram of the valve body

I never did find the problem. I "created" more problems than I had started with. I ended up buying a new rebuilt (got a good price at around $1,200).
One thing I was pretty sure of was the correct assemble of the valve body - after many times. I did get it wrong.
I have pictures, but unfortunatey I have moved to a new computer and can't find them right now.
If you do a search for A4AF3 A4BF2 valve body, I think you can find one. The information is scarce but it is there.
This particular transmission is super senitive (I talked to an expert) and very hard to rebuild. When doing anything internal, "everthing" has to be perfectly clear. Rebuilding the valve body without doing everything else most likey will not solve your problem because there is so many things that can stick or go wrong.
I know this is not pleasent news. I encourage you to talk with as many transmission "rebuild" experts as possible. Most transmissions replacement shops wont even think about rebuilding them.
I spent three months and unbeliveable hours doing and redoing and researching, only to buy a new one.
