Default Transmission problem

2002 Accent automatic.

No reverse gear. Drive slips when changing gears, doesn't want to change to next higher gear, hard shift (slam) into next gear. Check engine light is on. Problem just started happening today.

I assume the transmission blew a gear, but I want to rule out other possibilities. Does anyone know of something else that would cause these problems (shift solenoid, sensor, etc.)??

Thanks!

Here are the codes reported by the ECM and/or TSM:
P1529
P0734
P0732

I did a bunch of research online and determined the following possible causes:

1. Bad spark plugs and/or spark plug wires. (This can cause the computer to try to compensate by adjusting the transmission.)

2. Bad electrical wires to the Pulse Generator or the Speed Sensors

3. Corroded wiring harness between the TCM (Transmission computer) and pulse generator (located behind the dash)

4. Faulty Pulse Generator

5. Faulty input and/or output Speed Sensors

6. Worn transmission

It's a lot of stuff to check. I'll try to do it myself (difficult since I don't have a garage at the moment). If I learn anything, I'll post here.

I also learned that these issues were very common with 2000-2003 Hyundais, in fact led to a lot of recalls.

Where is your 0300 to 0304 misfire codes

2. Bad electrical wires to the Pulse Generator or the Speed Sensors
No input or output generator codes ?

3. Corroded wiring harness between the TCM (Transmission computer) and pulse generator (located behind the dash)
Unlikely

4. Faulty Pulse Generator
No DTC

5. Faulty input and/or output Speed Sensors
Refer to 2 and 4

6. Worn transmission
Most likely

A/T program for VSS noise (0722 code - generator inspect and TCM program),, engine program #52 is the latest greatest... but no A/T or engine recalls as you state...
