vehicle speed sensor?
 

so my cruise control module came in the mail yesterday and i was reading the instructions this morning. what i need to do is hook it into the vehicle speed sensor VSS or put togethor this magnet set up, wich seems like a pain in the ass. unfortunatly the reference guide doesnt have any info on the VSS for any cars newer than 95. my question is: does an 07 accent GShave a VSS (it should)? and where is it?

I have already looked on alldatapro, the car is too new for there to be any useful info on there. please help, the install will probably be on saturday.

The VSS is needed for more than just cruise control. Without checking I would say with 99% certainty your car has one. Give me some time to look it up and I will post a reply telling you how to tap into it.

There is a VSS on your car. The connections to it can be access in a few places, probably the most accessible is the engine compartment fuse box, at Connector EC03, Pin 12.

Before doing anything, DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY.

The VSS is on the transmission. It's kind of buried, but the signal wire comes up to Connector EC03 at Pin 12. I'm including the schematic for the VSS,

The wire changes color from green to red at the connector, and I'm not 100% sure which will be visible on the connector. You should be able to figure out which pin is Pin 1 because 3, 4, & 5 are not used (as indicated by the *). So look for the three empty pins, count back to Pin 1 from there, and Pin 12 should be in the next row over from it..... Like I said, Pin 12 should be a red or green wire. Anway, that's the wire to tap into.

This is the same site accessed by technicians in dealerships that service Hyundais. With a free registration, you get free access to all the information. The fact that this is out there influenced my decision to buy a Hyundai. It makes modding the car easier. For instance, I'm in the middle of a project to upgrade my Elantra's stereo by adding an amp and a subwoofer from a Tiburon. Because I can see all the schematics in WebTech, I know exactly how to hook everything up right the first time.

As for the tach wire,it is Pin 15 on Connector EC03, according to the attached image. One thing to note- I don't know whether you have MT or AT. For the connector pin numbers I've given, it doesn't make a difference. But if you tap into the signal at a different point (like the ECU), the pin number may be different.

well, i registered for that site, and i must admit it is packed with info, but i have been unable to find the last bit of information i need, i can't seem to find how many pulses per minute the VSS puts out. any help would be appreciated

If I can pipe into this thread, the VSS stuff is a lifesaver, but where are you picking up your vacuum source? I really don't want to tap the brake booster line.
