T Reg Hyundai Atoz won't start after break in
Hi
Our T registered Hyundai Atoz was broken into. They have snapped the steering lock, all the wires look intact - however the vehicle won't start. The car actually turns overs when the key is turned - however this only lasts for as long as the key is turned as far as possible (to the spring) - when released back the engine cuts out immediately The cap (on the left hand side of the steering column) hasn't been damaged - however on the plastic on the right hand side where the key goes in (which says lock/start etc) was torn away from the metal - and snapped in two. This has two wires - a black and a white one - which are still intact. The half that has the wires - appears to have two metal pins/prongs sticking out - I have pieced the two pices of plastic together - as there appears to be a place for the prongs in the 2nd half. Does anybody have any experience with these - and if the black and white wires are something to do with it? |
The item around the ignition switch is a key reader and is part of the factory fitted security system. If this is broken, the built-in immobilizer system will not allow the car to start. In order to repair this, it will need to be replaced and coded so either a workshop with the correct Hyundai diagnostic software or a dealer.
