Just popped the hood on the wife's 08 Azera to check fluids and it sounded like there was a box of peanut brittle trapped in the hood, that slid from front to back. Nothing came out of the rear drain holes and it did not sound like water. Has anyone heard of this before ? I asked the wife and she said she had not heard any strange hood noises.

Could there be noise damping material that has gotten hard and brittle and now has shattered ?

We do not leave the car out in the sun much and it is garaged at home and at work.

It has 44k miles and has been a good car so far.
