Cool Wire Bypass Headlight Dimming Issue

Just curious, experiencing the same headlight dimming (and other losses of power) issues in my 2006 azera. Was wondering if the wire bypass worked... Is it simply connecting a 4 gauge wire from the positive contact on the alternator to the positive contact on the battery? Do I need to ground the wire? Thanks for the insight.

Question problem with lights dimming

Regarding solution offered by GREGBR post #10, 08-15-2011, i.e. connecting a wire from the alternator directly to the positive battery post, is there not a risk of possible damage to the electrical system if you don't install a fuse on that wire? If so, what size should that fuse be? I note in the fuse box next to the battery, a 150 A fuse for the alternator.
