Whats up guys. So my buddy has an 03 Elantra and the color is sand beige metallic (Gold). On the way home the other night i ran into the back of him and scraped the left side of his rear bumper if you are standing behind the car. There are no breaks in the plastic whatsoever....just scrapes. His dad is demanding that i pay to have the bumper re-painted. I agreed since neither of us filed an accident report.

Anyways...they went to get an estimate to see how much its going to cost to repaint a bumper and the cost is $485.....that sounds a little high for a ****in repaint. My question is has anyone here had to either replace/repaint a rear bumper on one of these things? How much did yours cost? Is this kid's dad trying to pull a quick on one me?

 

I have no idea how much it costs to get the bumper painted but I've been considering it myself for both bumpers on my 2001 Elantra (same color as your buddy's).

I have seen in the past, however, where some places have two price lists: One for those going through the insurance company and one for those paying out of their own pocket. This practice should be illegal if it isn't already but I know it goes on. Make sure the guy doing the paint job knows this ISN'T going through an insurance company.
