2000 Elantra

Hello I need help. I have this 2000 elantra that starts cutting off and if I let the RPM's get under 2000 it shut's off period. Thursday I drove it for 65 minutes and it started cutting off, then it pick up. It would do this for 4 miles. If I tried pushing the gas pedal it would choke off. Finally died completely. The starter would just click. Well while stranded I found the cooling fan wasn't working. Well I replaced the fan and drove it for 2 hours and it ran great. Then 2 hours into my shift I deliver pizza part-time. It started again. I made it 2 miles and it died, but this time the starter was working I cranked her over and over nothing. So I put the throttle to the floor, she started right up. Anyone have a clue. I'm thinking maybe its getting hot enough where the ecm shuts everything down. But does this car have that safety?
