Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default 2001 Elantra GLS Rear Speakers Not Working

just bought a 01 GLS Elantra. great car. just wondering why my rear speakers aren't working. I have the factory tape deck am/fm radio. the fader is in the middle and ive moved it to the rear and zero sound out of either of the rear speakers. ive wiggled the wires around on the rear speakers but still nothing. is there an amp somewhere in the car?. ive also pulled the stereo head unit and the wires all look brand new from the factory still so its been untouched. what else should I try?

quick update
ive tested power and there is even power going to the speakers but still no sound? just bad speakers?

Possible bad speakers. Try getting ones that work and temporarily hooking them up the the factory wires.

If you had an oscilloscope then you could see the wave pattern at the speaker to see if there is a signal coming through. This would let you know if the speaker is bad or the wiring and stereo needs to be checked. Wait, a multimeter can be used to see if there is some sort of signal on the speaker wires. Or you can try taking the wires off the rear speaker and putting it on some good speaker to test the signal.

Good luck
