2007 Elantra broke into but keyway was not damaged

Hi everyone. New member. My 07 work vehicle was broken into last week. They didn’t do any terrible damage and i can’t figure out what is going on. The fob stopped working. And every time i try and start the car the alarm goes off. I’ve tried all the common resets. But no matter what i do, the car will not turn over more than 1 second.

If your vehicle uses a coded key, the key info may not be getting to the security module due to damage at the system near the key switch.

Without actually looking at the damage ,that is what is suspected.

Do you suggest taking it to a dealership or is this something that can be repaired by a local repair shop? I can do most mechanical repairs but electrical, i punt

Don't know just which is more convenient for you.
A dealership should have the parts , info and tools to handle the job.
Because air bag system is involved, don't know the level of their (other shop's) experience.

A dealership sometimes costs more, and may have a waiting time to get your vehicle into the shop. These things have to be considered.

Let us know how you make out with this, thanks.
