2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited 72k miles

Hey all, new to the forums. If I'm doing this incorrectly please excuse me. Anyways, I've looked all over the internet for a solution and I've been unable to find even the slightest clue of what could be wrong. So when I nudge the shift lever to the right into Sport mode (+/-) from Drive, the car still seems to behave as if it were still in Drive. On the dash, the [D] still shows and when I bump the shift lever up or down, it does nothing. 2nd owner, had the car since 52k miles, never been able to use it. It's not life or death, but I would love to utilize that feature. Any ideas or first steps I should take?
