Air Leaking - 99 Elantra in Boston area

Hi all,
I have 1999 Elantra and the engine light went off. I went to the local mechanic who, after reading the error code, said that there's air leaking. They check my car and said that I needed to replace evap sensor. After replacing the sensor, however, the engine light came back. They re-check my car and conclude that as far as they can see, nothing wrong with my car . They said that I needed to check the car with smoke detector (which they don't have) to know which part is cracking as it maybe an extremely small crack. Just wondering if any of you has similar situation like me especially if any of you know a trusted local mechanic who has the tool so I can save money by not going to the dealer. I'm located in Boston area. TIA.

What code are you getting from the CEL?

P0442. Thx!

P0422 is a small leak in the evaporative emission (EVAP) system. 9 times out of 10 it's a loose or bad gas cap. First make sure the cap it tight (at least 3 clicks). If that doesn't work, replace the cap.

Thx for responding NovaResource, unfortunately, I have replaced the gas cap and the CEL keep stayed on.
