Braking withoug ABS in 2006 Elantra Hatchback

Hi, I wanted to get some advice from drivers of the 2001-2006 Elantra on braking without ABS.

I've never had a car without ABS and I am a little bit nervous about driving without it. I am getting my car tomorrow.

So, I guess I'm wondering if anyone had any advice or tips on braking with this car safely. I've been looking around online, but I can't find any resources.

For the most part, I'm worried about getting into a situation where I need to slam on the brakes. I hear that cars without ABS "lock up" in that situation and that the car can slide all over the road. Is any of this true? Thanks so much!

Edit: Also, I have 4 wheel disc brakes, if that means anything.

Wow! I'm getting too old. You've never driven a car without ABS? That's really scary. My advice, seriously, is to take a defensive driving class where they will teach you about threshold braking.

Well yeah, this is my second car and the first car I've bought for myself. I'm 18.

Thanks a lot for the links!
