Question Check Engine Light - Rough Idle - 2008 Elantra

Hello to all:I own a 2008 Elantra with 179,600 miles on it. I’ve owned it since it was new. I’ve had minimal issues with this car, and it is clearly the best car I have owned. The car still has plenty of life left in it. The check engine light is permanently on now. I had the gas cap replaced and this shut the light off for 2 days and now it’s back on. I took the OEM gas cap that a mechanic gave me and replaced it with an original and still no luck. It idles rough at times and it is difficult to start after I fill up the gas tank. I drive the car 86 miles per day, and I know that I can get 200,000 miles plus with this car. Has anybody has this issue and if so, what was the cure? I would appreciate anybody who responds. On another topic, I am considering buying a Kona for my family. It’s a brand-new model. Any feedback. Thanks to all

Hi fpursino!
there are many different reasons that can cause the CEL to come on. Just guessing it is a gas cap does not work as you found out. Please go to a parts store and have the codes read with a code reader. Then post the codes that have been found. Without codes we won't even know where to look.
