A Couple More HP??
 

I notice that driving up my hill to my residence when the AC is running the car can barely make the grade. My year Elantra has 138 HP and the next year it jumped about 10 hp I believe.

If one wanted to pick up a small increase in HP without the risk of blowing the warranty, how could that be done? Is it possible?

My son says Air Intake or Exhaust change. Any one tried a simple modifications to pick up a small increase?

Suggestions?

I see in your other post you have a 2009 Elantra. The 2009 Elantra has a 138-hp 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. The next year Elantra (2010) has the exact same 138-hp 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. I believe you at thinking of the 2011 Elantra which has a 148-hp 1.8L 4-cylinder engine. That is an entirely different engine that shares little to nothing with the engine in your 2009 Elantra.

Don't waste your time on intakes and exhausts for your Elantra, most give little to no increase in power at the cost of noise and causing the Check Engine Light to go on.

I know the claims for the cool air intakes are for a 10% increase in HP but the intake on the 2.0 looks pretty good as is. I am not wanting to do anything to mess with the reliabiliy of the engine or the warranty so cam changes are out.

Hummmmmmmmmm....................maybe one of those little bolt on blowers??? With a very low boost, of course.

I noticed one of the links on this forum sends you to G-Force Performance Chip. They claim up to a 60 hp increase, 4-7 mpg increase, lower emissions and can be installed by anyone.

I guess it goes in between the ECM wiring and reprograms the ECM somehow.

Cost $69

Anyone ever tried one of these chips??

I am sure that application would blow the warranty for sure.

Junk. Their claims are false. Don't waste your money.
