2006 Elantra
I got the P0011 and based on previous experience I knew to change the oil/filter and clean the little filter screen for the VVT oil control valve. So, I did that and decided to pull out the oil control valve just to see if it looked OK. It did, but I cleaned it and put oil on it and put it back in, but when I tried to plug the connector in, the OCV connector part completely broke off. Ugh, so I ordered a new oil control valve. While waiting for that, I drove the car and got the P0077 (OCV circuit high), which is because the OCV is not plugged in, so I figured that would go away as soon as I replace the OCV.
I got the new OCV and replaced it and the connector as well, since it also broke. I thought all was fixed, but now I get these three codes as soon as the engine warmed up:
P2414 (O2 Sensor Exhaust Sample Error)
P0170 (Fuel trim malfunction)
P0171 (System too lean)
These all seem to be related.
I am no longer getting the P0077 or the P0011.
These three codes were not there before, and the original two codes are gone. Any ideas?
By the way......I have a valve cover gasket leak, which dripped oil on the exhaust manifold. I'm waiting for that gasket to arrive. Could that cause these three codes?
EDIT: In researching, I have found people with other makes of cars that have said that a valve cover gasket leak can cause lean conditions, as indicated by these codes. I'm just waiting for the part to arrive and will go from there.
