ELANTRA "TAPPING"
 

Hi all, I am new to this sight, so I hope I am not dragging up an old discussion.

I recently bought a new Elantra sedan. I noticed shortly after that it was making a "tapping" noise in the engine when cold. The dealer checked it out and diagnosed piston slap.

This , they informed me, would have been because of a machining problem at factory level.

I am now told that Hyundai will replace the pistons under warranty.!

This is a brand new car needing to have the engine torn down and rebuilt.

Anybody else have or hear of this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
