elantra 2000 key stuck in acc position
 

My hyundai elantra 2000 has always been problematic with the ignition key and the park position (automatic shifter). If the shifter wasn't pushed allllll the way up (past the park position) the key wouldn't come out of the ignition.... It's been doing that for 5 years, but it finally decided to break completely and now it won't allow the key to come out no matter what. I believe it has something to do with the shifter and the park position, but I would like to know directions or if it sounds like something else...

Most times this is doe to the shifter assy is bent. That metal bar that goes from the handle into the plastic assy in bottom. In order to see if this is the problem the shifter has to be taken apart and diagnosed. It could be as simple as a adjustment.
