Front brake grinding noise
I bought this 2005 Elantra from a dealer a while back. When I brake kinda hard like on a hill I get a grinding brake front end noise. I pulled off the 2 front wheels and the pads are like new and the rotors are like new. I checked the back brakes also and they are fine. Is it possible that these are just crappy pads??
Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks, Joe |
Grinding
I've got the same issue with hard braking on my 2006 Elantra GT. I took it to the dealer near the end of the warranty period, but I didn't get a satisfactory diagnosis. They suggested changing the rear pads. At the same time, they misdiagnosed a different issue, suggesting some unneccessary work. That left me a bit suspicious.
I'm not into the "try this, maybe it'll work" kind of solution, so I checked the brakes myself. There was plenty of material left on the original pads, and no other problems. I'm going to change to a different manufacturer when it's time to replace the pads; other information I've seen on the internets suggests that the OE ones aren't that great. Anyone else have the same issue, or thoughts on pad replacement? |
