Default How Does "True Car" Work?

I'm in the market for a 2012 Hyundai Elantra with the premium package. Now, I'm a young girl who doesn't know much about car buying/leasing other than the fact that Hyundais are comparable to Toyotas and Hondas in terms of reliability. I know most salesmen will try to pull one over on me, and I plan on trying my damndest not to let that happen.

I'm on TrueCar right now. They've quoted me $18,226 for the car. However, I've also noticed that there are a plethora of people in my area who have purchased this car for $17,600. If I present the TrueCar Certificate, is this the lowest I can go? Can I haggle a bit more after that? Also, should I only lease from TrueCar affiliated dealerships?

Thanks in advance, guys!

Hi Allison, I am kind of new here too - this is my first post - are you trading? If you are, you can always haggle on what they are giving you trade in for the old car. If you are buying out right with cash, yes, you should be able to haggle and get the price down.

Right now they are getting a bunch of rebates on the 2012 models from Hyundai. I just purchased my 2012 Elantra Touring SE - loaded, moonroof, leather heated seats - everything for $18,200 after rebates - they offered me $11,000 for my trade - I talked them up to $11,700 on my trade. The Sticker was over $21,500. I just went to truevalue.com and they said the Touring I bought was worth $20,651 - so I got over $2,000 better than that.
