Lifespan of a 2001 Elantra

I own a 2001 Elantra that currently has 124,000 miles on it. I recently had the hood latch repaired at the dealership performed a basic 24 point inspection and found nothing wrong with the car. (All suggested maintenance had been done on the car over the years with the exception of replacing the timing belt) Currently, the vehicle is not driven much. Basically, I only drive it 125 miles a month and it is virtually all city driving. How many more miles would this car last with such infrequent use and proper maintenance? I understand it can last upwards of 180,000 miles.

I see no reason why it wouldn't last to 180k if it's properly maintained. And I'd suggest getting that timing belt changed. It's supposed to be changed every 60k miles. It should have been changed twice already But if you change it now it should last to 180K.

My 03 Elantra has almost 170K and run almost like new. It's pretty dinged up and it's slightly out of alignment. But mechanically it's solid. There are somethings that'll start to go as u get higher milage. Suspension components will wear, and you might start to feel that in the car's handling. also things like a/c could conk out. I hope to see 200,000 miles. Good luck!
