Loud Noise when using heat or air

I've got a 2000 Elantra, and recently I've been noticing a grumbling noise when I use the heat/air/defrosters. As of yesterday it turned into a really loud noise that sounds like it's coming from my glove compartment. Is this a blower motor, blower resistor, or some kind of fan problem?

When's the last time you cleaned the cabin air filter? I'd check there first.

Where is the cabin air filter located? Ok, so I did some reading and realize that if the elantra is like the accent the cabin air filter is located behind the glove box. How do you remove the glove box on a 2000 Hyundai elantra? Would anyone have a spiffy diagram they could post? I really appreciated this!!
